s/v Sundancer

Sundancer is 1982 47' Vagabond, constructed in Taiwan at the Bluewater Cruising boat yard.  When we bought her, her previous owners had spent 10 years lovingly improving some of her original "bits".  Tim and Sandy Boehm owned Tarheel Aluminum, out of the Charleston/Coos Bay, Oregon area, and because of Tim's work with stainless and aluminum, he added the custom pilothouse, 1 1/4" stainless railing, and most importantly replaced the original black iron tanks with 300 gallon stainless water tanks and 200 gallon aluminum tanks for fuel.  A stainless sink surround and "cruise ship worthy" boarding ladder were also added. The original engine was replaced with a beefy 80 hp John Deere and when we came on board, there was only 500 hours on it.  Every day we silently thank them for their labours.

Throughout the years, we've added a new radar (twice) chartplotter, ssb and vhf radios, replaced our mizzen rigging and chainplates, have recaulked, rebunged and sanded our decks down to bare teak, added a kick-ass stereo and entertainment system and onboard computer, installed insulation in the entire ceiling overhead, added 600 watts of solar power, and installed the much longed-for Monitor windvane.  We replaced the refrigerator with 2 Isotherm drawer units and built a new freezer.  12 volt, LED rope lighting was installed in both the pilothouse and the entire cabin, including the forward head and aft cabin.  Several new wind instruments were added, including an ultrasonic wind and weather station, along with a few Anderson winches.

We also redecorated a bit, with rugs from Mexico, upholstery and a new dining table from El Salvador and throw pillows from both Guatemala and Peru.

Various sewing projects include hatch covers, a rain squall proof windscoop, and cockpit cushion covers and pillows, along with rope work in rugs, and wheel covers.

Welcome aboard!
